Upland Road House
The ghost of the original Aimer Draffin house lingers on in shaping the adult end of this house–of–two-parts. Grouped and stacked at the other end are the teenagers’ bedrooms and family social spaces, with their own entrance. At the heart the kitchen opens onto a north-facing dining courtyard and serves as the link. Louvred screens, shuttered balconies and slatted pergolas, provide sun and weather protection, as well as privacy control, and act in light relief to traditional rendered masonry.
